BIOLOGICAL CLOCK BROUHAHA (From a girls POV)
Its the new year ladies and gentlemen well ladies😏 and we are already feeling it up. A good number of us will not have to think too hard of the meaning of today's post; lets just say intuition is key. But you know for clarity sake I decided to actually look 'Biological Clock' up in the urban dictionary and here goes... "an innate mechanism that controls the physiological activities of an organism which change on a daily, seasonal, yearly or other regular cycle"
Who else thinks the grammar is way too complex and too much? I for one think this so please we will stick with our intuition. The ticktock of time as the years roll by and the fear of not being settled down already with a kid or two or maybe even three, a dog and the typical white picket fence with a wonderful partner and a stable income is a common place for some of us if not all of us. Over the years the pressure has been shifted more to us girls than our male counterparts hence my writing from her point of view. Throw in the fact that this is Africa and things have been presumed to follow a particular way and to the letter. Take this for example as a young girl you scale through other levels of education and eventually get to the university level, this too soon becomes a success and you graduate then bam everyone starts to wave settling down in your face like its the next best thing you can do for yourself. Don't get this the wrong way no one says this is such a bad thing to want but c'mon.
Personally I have had my struggles and i vividly remember a couple of years ago my mum had tries to have the talk with me and all I did was ask who wrote the book that said marriage was the ultimate goal of a woman in life I'll skip the part of her reaction to my question but it felt like after that day we made a silent pact never to broach that topic again or well at least for now until i was ready and comfortable enough to discuss this with her. So yes I know this messes with our heads and minds but is it necessary to rush a process because you feel you are running out of time? In my opinion it better follow the due process and the clock can keep ticking for all i care. What matters is this: whatever level or age or position you are, you have carved the ultimate happy niche for yourself and you have to some extent exploited this happiness. So to all my ladies biological clock be damned.. this year We choose to be happy...
Very well said Helen...
