GET YOUR JUICES FLOWING
A few weeks ago, after I landed a writing gig with opera news I posted a link for the usual click, comment, like and subscribe. Shortly after putting the post up, I got into a conversation with my favorite fashion blogger toh bad Adejummy of adejummy'sblog and this came up somehow. I had been trying to encourage her and praise her all at once for managing her blog with a mountain load of school work on the side. She is in her 3rd year and you know how it gets when graduation year is close. I know how inconsistent I have been with blogging over the last year and even though I wasn't committed to school work I still had to take long intermittent breaks to actually get some work done.
Now I like to think of my blog space as my corner to store beautiful memories of what happens every often so it's more like a journal I come back to after a few weeks of staying away, It is never easy to create content for anything no matter how little and inconsequential it seems, and the added task of creating something that isn't boring but isn't tell-all or a post that can be engaging and informative as well as not insulting to some readers makes it a whole new level of work. In the midst of our girly banter, we decided to come up with a post that would help bloggers, content creators, copywriters and every creative out there to not suffer a block or lose focus of creating finger-licking articles or publishing awesome work.
Everything you want to do and do well has to come from an intent. You can not choose to be more active in your creative space without wanting to be intentional with the decision to invest more time in creating. I have written a few easy steps to make you go back to your love of creation and best believe they work and worked for me.
STEP UNO
First of all, think of this as a must-do. Imagine a content creator of a company who always has to deliver writer's block or not because it is a job they get paid for. This is the first step to getting work done.
STEP DOS
Brainstorm alone or with people about ideas that are worth talking or writing about. Make a note often (you would be surprised how much sticky notes have saved my life) and remember not to lose them they are the calvary every writer needs.
STEP TRES
Another important thing is to be informed and stay trendy. You will never run out of things to write about if you are in the know. Lifestyle and fashion bloggers have this easy because they can easily relate to anything in vogue.
STEP CUATRO
As a blogger, you should look for other bloggers to make collaborative posts with. The energy from a fellow creative is enough to arouse the creative in you to deliver often. It may not work out every time but try to make it something that happens more often. I remember the last post I made with Adejummy it was fire and it was the month I wrote more on my blog.
STEP CINCO
Finally, try to be original. Originality is what creatives are known for and you never have to force it when it comes from a place of truth and openness. I never fail to tell people that to be verified as a blogger by Google AdSense floored me and was all the boost I needed for my writing career. When I finally discovered that it wasn't even the traffic that made it happen it was the fact that my content was original and all mine I was content to take my writing anywhere. Don't succumb to plagiarization even in the littlest bit. Make your post solely on your ideas; who needs to copy and paste when they discover how good they are?
Remember not to force it. If it isn't coming now it just means you are not in the perfect state of mind to create anything. Creatives often make the mistake to force things then make up a botched version of what could have been great. The mind is powerful as well as intuitive so if it's not flowing the brain can not form any connections. Pace yourself and destress, Come back to write when you have gotten some things off your chest.
