LOVE ON THE TERRACE OF THE RADISSON BLU HOTEL

Finals had been hellish, I'd have given it all up if I didn’t stop to consider the exorbitant amount of money my parents had forked year after year for tuition and every other expense I had in U-Bradford. Two days to the end of my exams my maternal cousin Titi called, she was getting married to an elite bachelor back in Ikeja Lagos Nigeria. Oh, my days Titi was only 23 I was a year older and I wasn’t even in the dating scene life sure is a bummer. I started the mental preparation at once for this owanbe even before I got the summons from my dear mother to come home after rounding off everything school related in the fall.

After hauling my luggage for almost 20minutes with no offer of assistance - {chivalry is definitely overrated in Lagos} seeing Titi's brother on the other side of the airport made me feel like I was home at last. It will later be revealed to me that the whole family had been booked into The Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja by our very wealthy in-laws to be. On getting to the hotel, the first thing I thought was our in-laws are surely sparing no expense. The beautiful surrounding, ambiance, and vibe did me in next. I took my phone and immediately went to the hotels.ng site to check The Radisson Blu out. It was the fourth hotel listed on the https://hotels.ng/hotels-in-lagos/ikeja/luxury page with a 10/10 rating terrific I mused. I met Titi's husband and family over lunch so divine. Since my parents had not arrived from Makurdi yet I whiled away time in the hotel's exotic pool. Everything was over the top and oh so beautiful.
My parents arrived the next morning and were ecstatic to see me. Uncles and aunties arrived one after the other and I kept smiling in greeting till my cheeks hurt. Feeling a little claustrophobic I excused myself from the suite to take a breather on the terrace on the floor of the suite. Few minutes into my reverie, someone tapped me and said "hello" I turned and was transfixed, apparently I wasn't introduced to the whole family yet. I had just met Titi's husband's older brother Funmi, who just came in from Abuja and was hoping to join the grooms family unnoticed in the hall where all the arrangements had kick-started.

Funmi was nothing and all that I expected. We were inseparable in the days leading to the big wedding. The wedding which was such a beautiful ceremony had the creme de la cremes of Lagos in attendance. I was almost sad to leave Lagos and head back to Makurdi with my parents but Funmi and I made a pact to keep in touch. Two months later Funmi found me in Makurdi and asked me to be his girlfriend. Thirteen months into our relationship he asked me to be his wife and here we are planning our own wedding in the fall. Love found me in The Radisson Blu.
